Access to certain folders is forbidden - Old boot disk in new system

As per title -

I'm trying to get access to the Dektop and other folders such as Windows etc in my old boot disk.

I've put the old disk in an icybox and connected it to the new system via USB - However, I cannot access certain folders.

Is there any way around this, or will I have to stick the old disk back into the old systme to retrieve the data?

Running on XP Pro.

Right click on the folders and select "properties" then "security" tab and take ownership of the folder.

On XP Pro, Simple File Sharing must be turned off for this to work.
Control Panel > Folder Options > View > Untick Use Simple File Sharing
