Im using my new desktop to try and get the info off my old HDD. Is there any easy way to connect it to my motherboard to get it to read as a spare drive? Ive tried using my laptop HDD external box header but it seems a usb doesnt have the power to get an desktop HDD running.
Its a SATA drive. I have tried plugging it into the power and sata when windows is running but it does not show up on available drives. I have also tried restarting the computer the the HDD plugged in, this didnt work it seems to want to boot off of that HDD.
Im fairly sure the drive works i just had problems booting win 7 up with it. Im sure if i can access it as a seperate drive i will be able to get the info off that i need.
