Hi,
I setup a 2x40Gb Mirrored Raid array for my father because he is too lazy to backup and thought this was atleast a step.
Problem is the system for some reason is just stopping after assigning all the IRQ values, it just doesn't do anything.
Stripped out all excess ram, removed all external devices bar keyboard and mouse, are no expansion cards other than a network card and AGPcard, removed all drives bar the 2xHDD on Raid controller.
Dont know what's wrong with it and had to instruct over the phone so it's not too easy. The only thing's I can think of I didn't try were reseating/removing the AGP/netowork card, and clearing the CMOS, but my father didn't want to touch them him self.
Now my problem is, if the mobo is not going to work is there an easy way to access a mirrored array? As the RAID controller is on the southbridge of the motherboard.
Can I just stick one of the HDD's in as a slave on another PC ?
He needs the data off the drives asap for doing tax returns for the end of the month, and yea I know he should backup, but try telling him that ....
The motherboard is a :
KT3 Ultra
MS-6380E v:1.0
MSI I believe if i remember correctly with a Promise RAID chip.
any and all advice appreciated.
Apart from reading about it my Raid experience goes no further than setting up this 2 disk mirrored array (raid 1 yea ? )
thanks
