Accident caused by a wasp

Cant remember the case name or the outcome which may well make this post somewhat irellevant but from when I studied law I remember a case where someone was driving and bees got into the car (swarming I think) and they crashed as a result.

As I say though cannot remember if they were held liable or not.

Hate em when they buzz round me and especially near my head and ears. Its just an instinct we cant help but be a bit afraid of em. Wasps can sting and live but bees cant so generally bees are ok but still horrible. I also hate it when they follow you when your either wearing white or ur sweating like mad which attracts them like anything.

Nah, just ignore it, don't make any sudden movements and it won't sting you.

Wasps are cool man. People need to chill out, they aint causing any harm, a swarm might but wasps on their own, they're fine.

I've had bee stings and wasp stings when I was young, they hurt like hell, thats why you don't want to get aggravate the wasp/bee by trying to kill it.

There is a slight difference between one lost wasp and a full swarm of bees! :p

its happend to me once, lucky wasnt going fast and the bugger was in the back, managed to pull over and let him out! phew

a mate of mine was riding on his motorbike once and a wasp managed to get in his jacket and under his shirt, he said he could feel it crawling over him and he didnt know what it was but when he tried to scratch his chest it started stinging him

he managed to pull over tho and remove all his clothes from the waist up and jump around (doing what i can only imagine looked like the truffle shuffle) at the side of a road :D he isnt exactly slim either so i can imagine a few people have been scarred for life

Reminds me of the clip in Me, Myself and Irene when he get's out the car and tries to get the spider off his jacket.

To the OP, this is actually a defence to driving without due care and attention - namely Automatism.

If you crashed your car in such circumstances and managed to convince a court that you were in fact being attacked by a bee then you would not be convicted.

As for the Insurance liability - well that's civil so cannot really answer that one.

I remember when I was little and was trying to block them all in their nest with sticks (it was in the side of a garage). Some managed to escape so I started batting them with a racket. I got the bad end of the deal in the end though :(

This just happened to be but i diddnt cause an accident as the little begger diddnt get in the car.

what would happen if.

your on a busy road and a wasp flys into the car and is in your face trying to sting you, and with all the comotion you bump into the car in front

Would you still be liable for causing the accident ?
I think you'd have to file a claim against the wasp, make sure you get it's details before they fly away! :p
