Accident with cyclist - Seeking advice

Interesting article re cyclist contravening the Highway Code, appreciate that the insurance don’t/won’t care but it might be worth showing them the article.

Yea, your not supposed to ride a bike on zebra crossings :p

It's to stop people launching themselves out in to the road inside a car's stopping distance, like that idiot probably did.

Even as a pedestrian your still supposed to make sure people are stopping before you step out, if you have any sense.

In that article he says he has been cycling for 30 years around London and did not know that you cannot cycle over a zebra crossing? Really. REALLY. What a load of tripe.

I'll be 100% truthful here, I also didn't know.
If you're on a cycle lane one side and need to cross over to the one the opposite side I didn't know it was illegal.
Is it the same for Pelican crossings because I also do a couple of those a day?

I've been driving since 1974 and I can honestly say my knowledge of the Highway Code is crap, I also know many of my friends/family in the same boat and that's why it should be compulsory to take a test every few years.

That would be such a ballache. 10 years maybe (same as renewing license photo, could combine it).

I was in the office the other day and somebody was shouting out Highway Code questions and nobody was getting them correct except for the youngest woman in the office.
That could be classed as a bit of a problem when you multiply it by the millions of drivers with the same knowledge.

Pelican crossings Nope. Your supposed to walk over those as well.

Only toucan crossings. Which have a cycle on the light control panel.

If it's not attached to a cycle lane the chances are you not allowed to cycle over it. If you do and you maybe injure someone, you'll be in the ****.
