So the other day I couldn't get in my house and I took the cat flap off to try and get my arm around to open the back door which luckily worked.

The FUNNIEST thing just happened, I went downstairs and turned the light on to be shocked by a mewing cat in my kitchen! I patted him and sent him on his way, it turns out the cat flap is on backwards and although theres a second plastic cover covering it, the cat somehow managed to bend it and get in but couldn't get back out!

Umm shouldn't you be worried about the fact that someone else could open your door through the cat flap? :p

I used to have to do this all the time on my parents old house when I forgot the key...

Had to go to the back garden, get a cane from one of the plants, tie a coathanger to it with some garden string...slide that through the cat flap to knock the key off the holder positioned behind another wall....drag that to the cat flap, and Du dah...home sweet home lol

Almost made forgetting my key all the more worthwhile :)

When I was a kid I opened the door by putting my arm through the letterbox, my parents gave me a key once I couldn't do that any more.

MacGuyver lives! \o/

the new years eve before last i returned home from a party to find my parents still at a pub which i couldnt get into and my keys inside, i completely failed to open the door through the catflap, possibly because they'd taked the keys with them, i resorted to shinning up a drainpipe, reaching in through the small bathroom window to open the larger one, clambering through that into the bath and then making my way downstairs, i thought this was quite some acheivement considering how wasted i was

I had a random cat wander into our house, then my cat saw it and chased it out and the other cat got so scared it pooed everywhere :(

Edit: whilst running away, so it went up the walls.

so you forgot your key but you managed to remember to carry a coat hanger around with you? :p

I trapped a random cat in my house once, after days of trying (it kept running out when it heard me go round to the back door). I was going to teach it a lesson but it went beserk and I thought it was going to smash a window it was hurling itself against so I opened the door and shoo-ed it out.

But the cat came back, the very next day.
The cat came back, I thought it was a goner.
The cat came back, it just wouldn't stay awa-a-ay. \o/ :D

Watch me... I'm great...!

I would be worried if I was the original poster; it seems rather easy to enter the house without a key. :p

A cat once came to my house, but it didn't come in. It wouldn't leave, so I put cold water on it, however it simply tried to drink the water. The only way I could get it to leave was by scaring it away (stamping down a few feet from it), however it returned. After a while it went away, and I expect it was a cat from a nearby house.

It seems like an interesting trap though. :p

I like your use of garden essentials to gain access to your house, but where did you find the coathanger? :)

Paul

He went through the front door, ran up stairs, grabbed a hanger, ran back downstairs, locked himself out and preceeded to pretend he was Sam Fisher.
