My and my wife are off to Northampton to see Derren Brown in Theatre next monday. The showing is 7PM and I'm going to be too tired to drive home the same day, will be about 2 hours home.

I'm looking for guidance for cheap accommodation for the one night. Any recommendation? Ideally, less than £40.

Appreciate you help, thanks :)

Found this place, looks good from what I can see:

Lime Trees Hotel, 8 Langham Place, Barrack Road (A508), Northampton NN2 6AA

Check that start time OP because I went last week (another venue) and it started at 8pm and I know somebody who went to another venue and that was 8pm.

Can anyone vouch for the Hotelopia.com website? I've found a great deal with a Best Western hotel, but the price on the website is cheaper by 1/2, than when I contacted the owner of the establishment.

Yep I stayed there for a couple of nights whilst freelancing, was perfectly fine - the parking is a bit annoying as you need to drive down a tiny very bumpy lane at the back but the staff were pleasant and room was clean and not boiling hot unlike the Ibis.

Lime Trees are fine, there is main road parking so if you can get a spot great. There are other side roads available. Parking in the rear is a bit tight but its your call. As for the hotel, been and done a wedding reception. Its suitable for what you want and its a okay place to stay. Getting from that hotel to Derngate is not far and over 10mins max drive.

Its difficult for us locals to say where to stay because we have our own houses. There is the Mariott or the Hilton which shouldn't be priced too high. Gives us a few names and we'll give as much advise.

As said Lime Trees you may have trouble parking.

What about Hotel IBIS in Sol Central. Its around 10 minutes walk to Dergate

Is that the one down Gold Street? This is a pretty good shout, you're walking distance from anything you'd want tbh, you're minutes away from town centre if you needed anything aswell.

There is the IBIS at Sol central and slightly further up Horse Market is the Park Inn - both have reasonable parking. There is the old Grand Hotel on Gold Street (top end near the Drapery / Bridge Street is now a Travelodge - not sure about parking there though, they may have something out of the back.

Used to live up the road from the Lime Trees and it's always seemed busy so they must be doing something right.

Parking wise you've got the train station down Sol Central end or you've got the multistory car park opposite the new bus station construction, I'd recommend the former although it'll be expensive most probably. (Just thinking if you struggle for parking)

Thanks for the input, this is great. Now I need to convince the wife to stop the night. Not as easy as one would imagine with a little one with the mother-in-law.
