Hi guys.

I moved house last weekend, and to celebrate I'm building a HTPC with a decent sound system!

My new lounge looked like this 10 days ago.

I have removed all the horrid wood and wallpaper.

I have a plasterer booked for Monday, to completly replaster the walls.

Anyway here is a pic of the planned design etc.

I have a 40" Samsung Series 6 LED 1080p TV, a PS3 and (once built) my HTPC running on it all.

I'm yet to decide on the sub and the rear speakers for the setup.

I will update you once I have more to show :)

Depending on my remaining budget at the end, I may get a projector too.

looks like a nice little project ace, would it be a idea if you got the same tannoy speakers for the rears ?

would make it look nice with matching speakers.

As for the sub,you can always hide that so it dont need to be the same make as the tannoy's.

I think I will most likely get tannoy rears too. But they can wait till the living room is plastered and decorated.

Also I do not intend to install an internal optical drive, will have a removable external drive, as i intend to add more HDD's to the HTPC as I build up my movie collection.

I have a PS3 for bluray discs. :)

The windows are going to have cloth pull down blinds so that won't be a big issue :)

The hardest decision is what new TV stand to buy. I keep looking but nothing grabs me.

Good luck Ace - nice little new years project!

whilst the walls are bare get a run of network cable in there so you can store films elsewhere and stream them to the HTPC. Will also help if you want to use online services :)

This. Moved my media collection onto a NAS after it was sitting on mutiple drives in multiple devices started to be a pain keeping track of where everything was, probaly one of my better investements was getting a NAS/Mediaserver especially as I can now access everything from all my devices :)

Also ment I could use a smaller SSD in my HTPC helping to quieten it down not having hard drives spinning in it.
