Hello,

First post on here although I was a member a good few years ago now so hello all :)

Been looking at buying my first laptop recently with a few things in mind:

Price: £500-600 (Would be willing to go £650 if the deal was outstanding)
Graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650

I'm pretty much set on the above graphics mainly because after doing some reading this seems like the best quality low-mid range laptop gaming card. If I'm wrong on this and anybody has other suggestions that would be great.

I recently stumbled upon this little gem:

Acer Aspire 5942G with the following spec:

Intel Core i3 330QM (2.26Ghz)
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
15.6" HD Acer CineCrystal™ LED LCD
ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5650 (1GB DDR3 Memory)
4096mb (2*2048mb) RAM
320gb Hard Drive
Blu-ray / DVD Re-Writer Dual Layer ComboDrive

Price: £551.99 (inc vat)

I was shocked at the above price I'm still not 100% sure if I will actually get it for that. Does anybody have any opinions on the above laptop from experience or any suggestions on something similar/better/cheaper?

Thanks for your help guys/girls

I have the acer aspire 5740g which is very similar in spec. i3 & 5650 1gb. At the 1366x768 screen res it can play most of my games at med-high spec (Mass Effect 2/World of Warcraft/TF2), its a great little machine. For £550 its a great deal.

Yep I thought it was a really good price but I'm not sure if its legit or they have it in stock... It's from an Acer Outlet but the price seems too good to be true for that spec

Yeah that's why I'm sceptical... Seems too good to be true for that price. Could you message me where you got yours please? Most of the ones I'm finding on-line (besides the one for £550) are about £800-900.

Strange... I'm a new member is that possibly why? Some setting I need to enable? I just spoke with the company who are doing this and they said it is in stock and would be sent out for delivery today if I ordered it. A quick google of them and the customer reviews on-line sound decent overall.
