Hey guys
Im new here (first post) so apologies if i get the formatting wrong, or the section wrong.

So heres my question,
I have the laptop: Acer Aspire 6935G. I have had it since june 2008, so safe to say it is getting a little old. Now i cant afford a brand new laptop, or i would get a new laptop. But i have read on the internet that it is possible to put a better processor in it. Currenty i am running an Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 @ 2GHz, with 4GB of DDR3 RAM, and a Nvidia Geforce 9600M GS. All very dated hardware, i know so please no trolling.

Here are some screenshots from CPUz of the cpu ram and mb.

im not sure how to attach pictures directly to the post (im new to forums also) so sorry if this is the wrong way to do so.

I hope one of you guys will be able to help me,
have a good day, thanks in advance :)

Basicly any socket P CPU should be able to fit. But you will have a hard time finding a normal retailer selling them as they are ancient by now. Best bet would be the bay unless OC has any left.. You could always check.

Good thing would be to check up similar models release in that time period. Otherwise you way run into BIOS not recognising it. I usually don't bother with upgrading laptops besides Ram and harddrives/ssd's due to parts being to expensive but you may get lucky

Agreed on the SSD. Even if it's only SATA2 an SSD will give you the biggest general use performance increase compared to any other hardware you could put in.

+1

I used to do CPU upgrades in the past, but with SSDs it's not worth the hassle.

anyway - the best bet is to find out what's the fastest CPU that used to go in the same laptop model, because even though you might get the CPU for the same socket, the BIOS might not recognize it (you can always play the lottery). Also try to go for same TDP, so you won't have cooling issues.

hey guys, sorry for the late reply i have been majorly busy,

anyway thanks for the advice ill check out the same socket CPU's and look into it. i would consider an SSD but it wont actually help that much, its the raw procesing power im missing out on.

Another random question i have, is my CPU never goes faster that 1.86GHZ. iv checked it with stress tests running, task manager says the cpu is 2ghz, yet it only goes up to 1.86ghz, and any program displaying cpu usage says its at 100%. iv checked power settings, the max state is 100% and mn state is 100%. i cant work it out. any ideas?
