Screen just broke .. ran out of warranty.. was wondering if it was worth getting repaired and how much id be looking at ..... or if i may aswell get a new laptop

you can get a screen for about 100 buck, repair should be easy as you just replace the screen i did it couple time for people in the pass, you just need to remember were the screws are located and also have patient and time to spare it is not a two minute job.

what resolution is it? There are 2 types i just bought a 1920 x 1080 for £110 delivered and sold the old 1366 x 768 for £99.

The latter size is hard to get hold of apparently.

Screen should cost no more than £70 off ebay lol.

The 1080p screen is not the issue, its the dual channel LVDS cable thats specific to the model that's a pain to source.

Cheapest 1366 on there is £167, which is why I priced mine at £99 sold pretty quickly.

I sourced 1920 a cable from the US for £25 so all in all the conversion cost me £35.

Is yours the CCFL backlit display? If so its probably an LTN160LT01 and very hard to get hold of at the minute, I bet that all the sellers on ebay dont actually have the item in stock and just have their prices hiked so they dont sell one (saves relisting fees when the item comes back in stock).

its cheaper to buy the higher res one and a cable if you can find someone to fit it, its quite tricky on this one though, means completely taking the panel off to change the cable and there's some tricky cabling aswell.
