Acoustic Energy Aego M or Logitech Z-2300

well i have the Acoustic Energy Aego M speakers and they ROCK man . ask the people who live next door to me they will tell ya the same :D

Wow...everyone loves the aego's. Anyway, I have my order in. Have saw posts form 2 people on these forums about the bass suddenly dropping out after a few days use. Hope this doesn't happen to me.

I own both, I have to say the AE sound is superb. My Z2300's are good but for music the Aego's are in a different league. If you play a lot of games I would say logitech, for music work AE, they give a true reproduciton of sound.

Well I got my Aego's today and they do indeed sound superb. Good for gaming too. Got a bit of a fright when there was no sound from right speaker. Turned out the cable from the soundcard to the sub left/right inputs was faulty. Lucky I had that expensive monster one lying around I bought ages ago.

I'm getting some new 2.1's in the morning (maybe afternoon looking at the clock) for between £50 and £100 would you recomened the Acoustic Energy Aego M then? Mainly for music.

To replace my megaworks that broke ages ago..... grrrrrr! How they compair, I loved the creatives.

Got the Acoustic Energy Aego M's today, so far so good. They sound just great! Not as big as the creatives and probally not as loud, but on quality they are 10 outa 10! Best couputer speakers I've heard.

Apart from the distorshion at louds levels I couldn't fault them.

Would the Aego 2.1 be ok with just onboard sound? Or should I consider getting hold of a second hand/cheap Audigy 2ZS/Audigy 4 (I don't really know much about sound cards)?

depends on your onboard - a few of them are improving rapidly. If it very simple cheap AC97 then an cheapish m-audio card (about same price as a decent audigy) will be much better with those speakers than creative. If you want to game (sounds like that not important) then creative+5.1 is the way forward.

Music = m-audio+good stero setup
Games= Creative card + good pc 5.1 set (or good seperate 5.1 if you have money to spare)

I'm not amazing with the knowing hi-fi bits but have learnt that much at least :)

Thanks for the reply

I can get an Audigy 4 or Audigy 2ZS for abouut £40 off an auction site, or an M-audio Audiophile 2496 for £60. Is it worth the extra? What are the main differences?

I do play games, but find myself more drawn toward high quality music playback at the moment.

i have the same card that adwhitworth is talking about. got It from OCUK and it has great sound for a £35 card . am well pleased with mine
