Acoustic Management on or off?

Does turning acoustic management off make much of a difference? I have just run SiSoft Sandra and it told me I should turn this feature off for better performance (If it does make a difference then I shall have more questions to ask ).

Personally I'd turn acoustic management off, and opt for performance over noise.

All it does is reduce the speed the heads move, in turn reducing the noise the hard-drive produces when accessing files, etc.

Thanks, now my next questions are, what can I use to turn off the acoustic management, I have dos app from the samsung web site which needs to be run from dos prompt, but I have no floppy drive (I have no idea how to boot to dos without a floppy). Can it be turned off from windows?
