ACPI - keyboard not working in post/bios

Since enabling ACPI in my bios due to getting an SSD to use as my primary drive, I have not been able to use my USB keyboard during the post to ender the bios or select different boot media. And while this hasn't been a problem as I've had no desire to access it, this weekend I'm looking at getting Windows 8 installed, meaning I need to make my PC boot from the DVD drive, something I need a working keyboard for. Is there any option besides going out and dropping £5 on a rubbish ps/2 keyboard? I assume this will at least work?

What other options are there? I'm going to be wiping the SSD and starting again as part of the install, so I can't simply do it from inside windows. And is it normal that enabling ACPI has prevented my usb keyboard from working? Or have I done something wrong somewhere as well?

Why can't you do it inside windows?
It formats your drive while its doing it...its the same thing as a clean install more or less, just delete the windows(old) folder it leaves behind and its the same thing. I've been doing this for years, no issues.
Will be doing this soon when I move to a prodigy case with a USB/ISO version of windows (valid serial key, just lost my disc ;p)

Dunno about the keyboard not working, I had no issues when I used my keyboard with ACPI on.
You most likely have a keyboard that loads its drivers after the BIOS has loaded, so it won't work.
If you live in Sunderland I could give you a usb to ps/2 adaptor I have like...a million of them xd

ACPI or AHCI?

Uh, pass, I can't get into my BIOS to check! It was something I was told I had to enable in the BIOS if I wanted to install Windows to an SSD, and all I remember was that it was a 4 letter acronym beginning with A!

Matsy, can I do it all from within windows? Would be handy as I wouldn't need to go and find a DVD to burn it onto. I was partly hoping to do a full format of the drive during the install, but I guess there's no difference between a full format and just deleting everything once it is installed again. And thanks for the offer of the adaptor, unfortunately I'm down in London, and am regretting my thoughts of 'pfft, I don't need that rubbish, why would I ever want to use a ps/2 port!' :(
