Does anyone know of a good alternative to Acrobat (PDF) Reader, ideally something small, free and compatible with Firefox?

I just hate waiting for Acrobat to load-up each time I browse a PDF page using Firefox!

Thanx

Foxit reader is excellent, much quicker than Adobe's I find. Not sure if it works within Firefox though, I have it open up.

Also check out the PDF Download extension for Firefox.

Thanx Guys

I downloaded the Mozilla (PDF) tool bar and Foxit, now when I go to view a PDF file on my computer it opens in Foxit. I’m happy with that! (If I discover Foxit is unable to display some larger PDF files I’ve still got the option to use Acrobat).

When browsing with Google and I click a subject with PDF next to it Firefox displays the PDF Download Tool Bar, with five options. This is what I get:

Download – does what it says on the tin.

Open PDF – A Firefox download message appears stating download is complete and the file opens (very quickly) in Foxit.

View as HTML – does what it says on the tin but some files are protected against HTML.

Bypass PDF – When I clicked this one the program strangely opened using Acrobat

Cancel – Goodnight Vienna!

I find Options 2 and 4 a bit strange. With option 2 although I got the download message a search using Windows search did not discover the file on my computer. Am I right in thinking that the file is NOT downloaded permanently?

Option 4, it seems strange that as Foxit is now my default PDF reader that Acrobat should fire-up. (It’s very unlikely I’ll need option 4 and my computer is certainly benefiting from all of your advice!)

Thanx

I can't see how Foxit would be unable to copy with some larger files.

And just get rid of Adobe Acrobat. Its like a leech on your system. Just keep Foxit on there.
