Acronis True Image Recovery Manager with SSD

With Acronis True Image and XP it's possible to create a very small, around 39 MB, 'Secure Zone' and overwrite the MBR allowing you to simply press F11 on booting and
restore an Image from an internal HDD.

I'm getting a C300 and am curious if this is possible on W7.

I believe you can use Acronis to create Images which will restore W7 to an SSD using a bootable CD but I much the alternative approach which I've used for some time.

I use Acronis on all my systems. The only problem with the secure zone is that it fails occasionaly then you cannot access that area at all. At least with a normal image or dedicated area to store that image, you can copy it or restore it as you like. I have imaged my Revodrive but so far never needed to restore it.

Acronis is WAY better than Ghost, it offers a lot more flexibility, but in order to get fast boot times you dont have to install the Boot Manager, just build a Recovery disc, and keep the image on another disk or network drive, then boot from the CD and point it at the location. The Boot loader is good, but its another splash screen to sit through.

Edited to add: I'm on Win7 and it works perfectly.

I've never used the Zone to store Images.

I've used a bootable CD' and to me it just doesn't compare with the convenience of Recovery Manager ie simply pressing 'F11' which is so much easier than fiddling with CD's.

I create and restore very regularly at times, particularly immediately after installing the OS and when trying bits of software out etc.

Rather than uninstall software or whatever that I'm not impressed with, I prefer to restore an Image I created it immediately before dabbling.

Have you tried using Recovery Manager and 'F11' on W7 with an SSD and does it work ?.

I appreciate the help guys but what do you mean it's too unreliable - too unreliable for what

1 - as a means of storing Images for future restoration - I don't use it for that purpose, never have and not suggesting anyone should

2 - it doesn't always operate correctly to allow F11 restoration - it always has for me in XP or is your experience with W7 and SSD's different. If it fails presumably you resort to a bootable CD.

3 - or causes other problems

The bootable CD option works perfectly, or F11 Restoration or both ?.

F11 , works fine , can load up acronis and access the image stored on the hidden partition
After restoring the image it seems to screw-up the partition layout so
that everytime the OS tries to load it blue screens. I then have to use the disc with a usb HD caddy(with image on it) to correctly restore the image.

I have been using acronis for about 6 years now , works great most of the time but
it does have some issues

Not what I wanted to hear but many thanks for providing the info.

I've used Acronis for quite a while creating and restoring Images regularly so liked the easy option.

I'll obviously follow your advice and play safe - don't want to mess up my new gear when it arrives.

Edit: Just caught your reference to 'Hidden Partition' - I don't have one but I'll still play safe.
