Hey guys,

I have a Vista Business (XP downgraded version) pc that wants to be reactivated.
But it wont go through activation because the key is a Vista key (on the side of the case).

I called Microsoft, and one of their "employee's" told me to borrow someone else's key and xp disk and install it that way....that so doesnt sound right to me.

Any ideas of what to do here?

Thanks,

Tom,

That is what MS suggest. They state that they will not provide any keys for downgrade activations. Do as they suggest :)

Sometimes that's easier said than done! If you wanted to just activate it without reinstalling would you need to find an OEM key in this instance?

I believe I would because HP Keys, or Dell Keys dont mix...I believe? Ive tried before, just for testing ofcourse, lol.

I normally load on Xp to client machines using my own key as I'm waiting for their copies to come through.. Once received, I just change the key and activate. Done.
Beats waiting for the post.
