Hi,

I bought the Adaptec card for one of our work machines, along with 4 sata drives and am wanting to configure raid 10 - help!!!!

I can configure Raid 1 or 0 but am struggling to configure Raid 10 as it appears there are no options for it - has any one used this raid card in this way?

regards,

Matt

Taken from the knowledge base support section of adaptec

Will 1420SA support Raid 10?

Question
Will 1420SA support Raid 10?

This information applies to the following Product(s):

- Adaptec Serial ATA II Raid 1420SA

This information applies to the following Operating System(s):

- This information is not Operating System specific

Answer
The 1420SA SATA HostRaid controller as originally released doesl not support Raid 10. However, new bios and driver updates have enabled that feature. Bios version 2015 and drivers version 5227, downloable from the Adaptec web site enabled the following features:

RAID 10
NCQ
3GB negotiation
SES enclosure management

I have updated bios and am also running the latest drivers - however still can't configure raid 10.

Matt

It could be the storage software causing the error - but for some reason I can't log in to download the latest version - can anyone point me to a link for Adaptec Storage Manager Version 4.00.4494 for Windows on a different site?

Matt

Still stuck with this one....

Since flashing the card I try to get in via ctrl-A and the message comes up not enough memory. I have 1GB installed o this particualr PC.

Any advice?

regards,

Matt

Have that bios and also those drivers installed - think it's time to either ditch the card and get something else, expensive lesson, or move to a dedicated server that supports it without the requirement to update, even more expensive.

Drivers installe are 5727 - the latest ones on the adaptec site.

Bios version 2015 - latest on site and it states that it updates for raid10.

Matt

Have just received email from adaptec asking me to try a differnt pci slot, have tried this and still get same thing saying there isn't enough memory asks if to force it to goto bios or not.

If you force it it locks machine up. If you let it load the top part of the screen is corrupt and you cannot use any of the menu options, so end up rebooting pc.

Have reflashed bios once more with a new download and I still get the same.

Matt
