Can anyone else not update the filters for adblock filterset g by doing a forced update? The official website at www.pierceive.com also appears to be down.
On October 31st, my hosting provider blocked my account because they thought I was under a DDOS attack (the shared server's performance was being affected). What they were seeing, however, was the success of Filterset.G, which I hosted through them here at pierceive.com. The Adblock Filterset.G Updater Add-On for Firefox automatically checks for updates every 4-7 days, resulting in some pretty crazy stats (in October, there were 17.8 million hits, but only 32.93 GB bandwidth used), which would understandably overwhelm shared hosting solutions. I finally convinced them to unblock my domain on November 3rd, but the /filtersetg/ folder remains blocked to keep the server from crashing again.
Donations barely covered the cost of hosting as it was ($200/year), and I can't afford to pay for anything out of pocket. For the record, it was a "SuperHosting MultiSite" account, which I think was the biggest available from Site5 when I first got it. They now recommend I find a dedicated server or server cluster. If you are aware of any cheap hosting solutions capable of handling Filterset.G's needs, please email me at pierceive [at] gmail [dot] com.
