Hi there.

Would i see a bigger improvement adding a 2nd 5770, or would i be better off adding a 6950. I only game at 1280x1024 on a phenom2 955, 4gig ddr, 550psu system. Any help will be apprciated as always thank you

for that res you would be better with the 6850/70 if unhappy with the 5770's performance , adding a second 5770 it would near enough perform the same as a 5870 when crossfire is supported . but that is a big IF

Sell the 5770 and buy a cheap 5850 from OCUK, not sure if they still got them but they had them for just over £100 the other day.

Otherwise there's plenty of cards between £100 and £200 which would be a good replacement for what you already have.

Probably best to upgrade to a better card, if you add another you'll most likely need to get a better PSU too (550W is not really enough for most crossfire-able cards).

On a 550w psu wouldn't wanna try crossfire although I believe a forum member has done 5770 x-fire before on a 550w corsair (Krooton I think). Personally I'd flog your card and get a 5850 seeing as they're going cheap. You mention a 6950, that's probably overkill but I suppose you'd be future proof for a while and allow you some room for expansion should you get a bigger screen. All comes down to how much you want to spend.

Unless you are getting a bigger screen in the near future get a 5850 cheap from OcUK, there barely more expensive than used ones on the bay. Sell your 5770 to make it even cheaper!

At that res you'll be more CPU bound (though you have a goodun) than GPU. Get saving for a 1080+ screen ;)

I have 2x 5770 on a Corsair 520w. No problems so far.
FPS has pretty much doubled in everything too :)

I actually planned to add a 2nd card in the future when I 1st built the system so this is why I added rather than replaced the card. Besides, 5770's are dirt cheap now (The one I got was 102 euros or about 90 quid)
