Add-ons for PDAs

I'm a student at Reading University and have come up with an idea that incorporates speech recognition software into your PDA.
The idea is to enable the user to talk to their device while on the move to create a shopping list, make notes on a memo pad, or be able to write speeches (for example). This could then be saved in a .txt format so that the user can translate the files back to their computer should they wish.

I am looking to find out what people think, and whether they would be willing to buy this software which would be sold in the form of a CD-ROM.
So any contributions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

hmm i'd have to say this should be in windows section *i think*. also i dont think this kind of post is allowed, i mean if you want what people think fair enough, but im not sure buying software via yourself is allowed? i mean your essentially advertising your own product (if it happens etc)
first thing i'd note is to be able to do speech while on the move would require a bluetooth headset of some sort.

I think you'll struggle because PDAs are woefully underpowered in terms of CPU power, memory bandwidth and RAM.

Its much easier just to use your PDA as a dictaphone and record a sound clip.

PDAs in their current form probably won't be around much longer, as soon as x86 PDAs come out on intels new low power platform then they'll be running x86 windows and there's lots of voice recognition apps available (all of which have failed commercially).

Ah right, thank you for that... I didn't know that previously.

And yes I am just looking for opinions at present. I will go through proper advertising channels should I wish to sell it.
