Adding a 140 Rad.

Hi Guys,

I'm considering getting another Radiator to add to my loop, at the moment I'm just thinking about getting a good performing 140mm Rad to mount on the inside at the exhaust fan (similar to the H50/70).

Was wondering if anybody knows if there would be any spacing problems involved, I would probably have to change the orientation of my 360 radiator (but if I can get away without doing that then woot), but was wondering if anybody could advise on the following:

1) Suggestion of a good 140mm Radiator which would perform well with a nice quiet 1000rpm Fan

2) Recommend a good 140mm Fan (not sure if scythe do 140mm versions of the gentle typhoons, will look into this)

3) Any other recommendations/advice on doing this?

The reason I want to add an additional radiator is mainly of course for added cooling, but I'm also considering getting another 480 (still deciding). While I've been told that my current loop should do pretty well, it wouldn't hurt (or would it?) to add an additional radiator. If I did add the 140mm fan I would be doing at least plan on doing a push+pull config on it (only have the 360 in a pull config atm).

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAND finally, I'm planning on changing my tubing and going for 1/2"ID, 3/4"OD. If I do this, then I'm going to have some pretty much brand new EK compression fittings up for sale which I would be happy to offload at a discounted price if anybody would be interested?

I did want to sell them on the marketplace forum on here but I dont seem to have access to it

Cheers fellas

I use a hw labs sr1-420 rad (3x140) coupled with yate loon d14sl low speed fans (1000rpm). The combination works very well, low fpi rad with low speed fan give me good temps and near silent running. There are no 140mm scythe gt's yet :)

Yes i did mean that, they do a 1x140 but its the same rad just 1/3 of the size :)

At low rpm on an sr1, push pull wont make that much difference as there is little restriction to airflow from the low fpi count (9). If you really want to get more performance out of the loop a hw labs gtx 140 with low speed push pull maybe the trick, as the guys on xs have tested that low speed in push pull on high fpi rads are better than med/high push configs.

Ahhh that's good to know, I'm currently running my 120 Scythe GT's at 1800RPM now due to the hot weather, and it's still relatively quiet, definitely well within my own personal limitations. I wonder if I'd have enough space to actually fit a 140GTX with push pull actually... will have to do some measuring.

Are the Sharkoon 140mm fans any good do you know?

I wish they had tested did the 140mm fans with a shroud like the gt's as well to remove the dead spot, results are a bit misleading otherwise.
