Hey,
My graphics card already has both of it's 2 DVI sockets used for my primary dual screen 20" monitors. I wish to add a 3rd screen to either the left or right for messaging and E-Mail. Can I install an nVidia card in just so I can get an extra VGA port to use with a spare 15" monitor? and how would I set up the drivers as my current GPU is an ATI card?

pretty sure u would need to do one of the following:

a) get an identical ati card and use SLi (obv req another PCI-E slot)
b) get a ati 5000's series with an active displayport/use the HDMI port + the 2 DVI
c) get an X2 graphics card

Hope this helps

Provided ur running W7 u can install both ATI and Nvidia drivers on the same OS, whack in the card and give it a go, doesnt need to be anything fancy either as all it's doing is some light OS work.

As said just get a cheap (£20 up) graphics card. I would keep it the same family as your existing card, as it keeps drivers simplier.

I ahve a spare PCI-E nVida card no idea what model sat unused in a cupboard so was hoping to add that.

So from your above comments, I can put the new card in and install the nVida graphics drivers alongside the ATI ones and it will be ok?

if you are running windows 7 yes, and as long as you have a spare PCI-E port then yes you can put either an ATI or Nvidia card in there, however you can get a cheap 4 series ATI for £20 so maybe for simplicity it would be better to go down that route......still seems weird being able to run ATI/Nvidia alongside each other lol....
