ok my 88' rx7 n/a is currently insured with a a full exhaust system and an air filter. I Just the stock intake back on because the previous owner had the intake taking in hot air. Anyway, tried putting a quote though auto trader without the air filter.

ill let you guess how much my insurance went down...

(original price is £2k)

To put the car back so it's more standard? Got to be about +£350 :p

C'mon put us out of our misery!

I wanted the car, about the cheapest insurance I could find, was earning decent enough money at the time, so I paid it.

More to the point why pay £2k to insure a N/A car?:eek:

What's a cars aspiration got to do with it  There are 17 year olds paying £2000 to insure Astras and things. They don't have much choice, insurance for young drivers with no NCD is horrifically expensive these days, I feel sorry for them.

Its a 150 hp rwd drive car

im 19 with a years NCD (i was a named driver last year, havnt crashed yet :D) and 3points

anyway the internet quote went down a whole £800 to £1200

so i rang up to make my saving, ive been on the policy for 2/3 months so i thought fair dooze i wont save the whole 800 but its still worth it. They said they would give me £96 back..... Asked how much money i would get back if canceled the policy and it was only £1200 so i only saved £96 in the end. Still good though, more power and i saved money, result!!!

well its the same principal. Come 4000RPM it opens up more inlet ports for more high rpm power and low down torque

But thats not the same as VTEC at all though. That just sounds like its running 2 sets of runners on the intake manifold which many cars have

Same principal. Yes, one alters the length and diameter of the intake tracts, the other alters the valve timing, duration and lift.

Err...........Negative :p

Both different concepts altogether :)

I was looking at it from a very basic way. when the port opens you get more power as your letting more gas escape from the engine more easily. Now technically its not the same as vtec but i see it as a similar idea overall

edit: timing in a rotary engine is determined by the position and size of the ports. So adding another one changes the timing
