Adding a hd7990 to my CPU loop

Alright guys,

So it's been a while since I set up my first watercooling loop (A basic loop) and I've just acquired a HD7990. The noise of this beast is way too loud for me to deal with and also comes with some low sounding coil whine when playing games at high quality/1440p (It doesn't happen with games that rely more on the CPU like WoW). I was going to send the card back and go with a 780ti but the performance of the 7990 seems to be higher (7990 higher frame rate at 1440p than the 780ti at 1080p in Crysis 3 for example)

Anyway, what more do I need for my loop to be able to add a HD7990 to the mix? I currently use a simple 120mm rad and a pump/reservoir combo (Can't remember the model of the pump or reservoir) which works fine with my i5 2500k @ 4.4ghz (53c full load). Could I just add a 240mm radiator to the top of the case or would I also need an extra pump?

Please remember that the HD7990 sits at 80c~ at full load with the XFX cooler, so it's going to add considerable amounts of heat to the loop.

Thanks for any advice you can give.

You will have to find out what pump you have.
Each have its limits after all, especially if its older model.
General rule with amount of rads is 1 x 240 per high end component.
You could probably change the liquid to Mayhems Ice Dragon, i heard its best for hot systems.

The general rule of thumb 240mm per part is a bit silly and overkill, I see far too many builds with a huge amount of radiator space.
Fluids hardly make a difference in temperature, not even 1c so overpriced unless you really want colours.
I would buy a 240mm rad minimum, 360 if possible.

Where did this 240mm rad per performance part come from? I have always gone with a decent 120mm per part. Current setup was just because i got the second rad really cheap and wanted to see just how low i could get temps.

What case do you have? You are going to need a good 360mm rad to cool the 7990 and cpu comfortably. A good 120mm and 240mm would also work well. The 7990 blocks start at around £100.
