Adding additional NVMe drives

I've got a B450 motherboard with only a single NVMe slot. What's the best way to add at least a couple more NVMe drives?

I purchased a PCIe riser before that just didn't work. I ended up returning it and life got in the way so I'm only revisiting this now.

You might want to look at changing the link, this forum is run by ocuk and they don't allow competitors links etc

As to the additional nvme drives... your options are either a new motherboard or a riser card like you've tried before.

OCUK sell some, which I assume work fine, although I have no experience of any of them first hand.

Thank you for the quick reply. Alas, judging from my motherboard (picture above), I don't have any PCIe x4 slots for those that you recommended. I might consider getting a caddy instead, but really would prefer installing them inside.

You would install the pcie m2 adapter into the lower gpu slot.

I didn't know you could do that! Thanks for the tip. I'll do just that.
Yeah as above just shove it in the bottom pcie16 slot.... it even says on the motherboard specs that the bottom one supports x4 mode. Just note you might not get full speeds from the nvme drive because your board is only pcie 2.0.
1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 slot (PCI_E4, supports x4 mode)

Thank you for the reply and information. I swear I thought my board was PCIE3 at the very least.

Looks like it's going to be better to make use of a caddy and USB3 the way this is going.

what exactly is it you want to do?

Main reason for adding the drives is for video editing. I already have the drives and it's just sitting in storage.
Honestly with the cpu you have etc I'd just shove it in the second slot, even at the reduced speeds it will still be faster than sata ssd and probably going to be close to the speed of a usb caddy.
