Adding additional RAM to overclocked i5-750

Hello, I have the following overclocked bundle purchased from here in 2010:

Intel Core i5 750 2.66Ghz @ 4.00GHz
Gigabyte GA-P55-UD5 Intel P55 Motherboard
Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) PC3-12800C9 1600MHz DDR3 Bundle

I'm thinking of adding another 4gb of RAM as I've just gone from 32bit o/s to 64bit.

Do you think this is likely to work with my current overclock settings?

Am I right in thinking that if it doesn't work I can just start again and overclock the thing myself?

Thanks in advance.

It may make it unstable as there will be additional strain on the memory controller with 4 slots occupied. Note down the current overclock settings, then you can easily adjust them if needs be.

I added 8GB of 1600MHz DDR to my OcUK bundle without problem. I didn't even have to change any BIOS/EFI settings and it's working in dual-channel mode. As usual, just be aware that what works for me might not work for you. Just make sure the memory timings are similar to or better than your existing memory, as potentially it could cause issues. And I would say that if you're upgrading then why not added 8GB instead of 4GB? It's not much more expensive.

Were it me, I'd sell the 2x2GB set and buy a 2x4GB set. Memory is so cheap these days.

As noted above four sticks will put added strain on the controller and motherboard which is likely to affect your OC.

I have the same CPU as you and swapped out my 4 gigs for 8 and the oc was totally happy. Ddr3 is so cheap now just buy 2 4 gig sticks.
