Hi,

I've bought a western digital sava hard drive and a SafeCom Serial ATA PCI Adapter card. I want to replace my old IDE drive and just use my new sata drive.

I have been able to view the sata drive in XP as a secondary drive while booting from my IDE drive. I can copy files etc.

However, I cannot do a clean install of XP even when I specify my adapter card drivers via the F6 option. The XP install program sees the drive and copies files... However after the restart at the end of the install I get a message "Disk Boot Failure, Insert Disk and Press Enter".

I have Scsi Boot Device selected in my Bios as first boot choice.

I have contacted SafeCom and they say their card was not designed to be bootable although I understand from from review / comments that it can.

So will it work with a different adapeter card?

Whats the problem?

Thanks in advance,

Jules
