Adding girls to my policy drops it loads!

Mine is too scared to get IN my car let alone drive it :p

I might add her on anyway

I've never thought of doing this trick, but then again I'm not a damn criminal like you lot :p

Is it really as simple as adding a random family member/girlfriend, even if you have no intention of ever letting them drive the car? :)

There's nothing illegal about it.

I'd better add my mum then :)

Would I be able to add my sister as well, or would the fact that she hasn't passed her test be a fly in the ointment?

i added my gf this time round, added about £50 to it, which isnt to bad considering she's 23. yet for me to go on her insurance they wanted about another £300 :O

It makes almost no sense. Why am I less likely to crash my car if I have a girlfriend on the policy?

Think theory behind it is that she is less of a risk driving the car as you, and by adding her to the policy, she will be driving it sometimes, reducing the time your driving it.

If that makes sense.

It makes almost no sense. Why am I less likely to crash my car if I have a girlfriend on the policy? Have they done research that suggests that regular sex drops testosterone levels in men making them calmer behind the wheel? And if so similar discounts for adding mothers to policies become VERY worrying!

It makes complete sence.

You have your girlfriend on your policy who is a lower risk than you. Therefore Mr Insurance company expects her to drive the car x% of the time. For that x% of the time she is a lower risk than you. Therefore overall there is a lower risk.

I hear this so often. Does anyone actually think the Police check to see if the driver you accuse when you get done by a Gatso was insured to drive the car? I doubt it a lot. They just want the £60 IMHO. Plus most 'mothers' will be insured TP through own policy DWOC.

True. Another interesting way to lower your insurance. Only state 6k max policy. If you go over this and crash then your friend who has DOC cover has been driving your car putting on mileage obviously! How are they going to prove otherwise?

P.S - This is obviously a little naughty :p

OK explain this -

RAC quote me a policyholder, no other drivers - £928
RAC quote me as a policyholder, just one girl - £788

RAC quote girl as policyholder (2 years younger) £1028
RAC quote girl + me - £822

So if she is a lower risk, why does adding me to her premium reduce it?

If you have some spare time, go play www.rac.co.uk

You are 21 yes? This girl would be 19 then? I believe that insurance is expensive for under 21s. Once you hit 21 then insurance becomes cheaper.

Correct me if I am wrong peeps.

How old are the both of you and how many NCB's?

I'm guessing that you're a bit older with a few NCB?

But no I can't answer your question, welcome to the wonderful world of random insurance! :p

Its only 'estimated' annual mileage, so even if you went over 6k you could claim in was due to unexpected circumstances.;)

no he drives a tuned 200sx, you know, the type of car the drifting community love so dearly for its potential for driving sideways in...

What on earth do you drive?! A Koenigsegg?

Its nothing special as Clarkey said, its a modified 200Sx. The most powerful thing my other half has driven is her 100bhp TDi Polo. She hasnt ever driven a RWD car let alone something as un-user friendly as my car compared to what she is used to.
