ok so have goten the Gf a new laptop as the old one died and could not fix it, the new one is nothing special a acer E1-772, went 17inch as she mostly uses it to save her photos and do very basic photo editing (redeye removal and croping), facebook and hallmark card studio.

any way when i open it up to add her storage drive a 1tb m8, am thinkin as theirs a unused memory stot and have 2gb stick from the old lappy.

so would adding a 2gb ontop of the 4gb it came with would this cause any problems?, im fine with desk tops and would only ever use mached memory in my system.

thanks

What was the old laptop?
Also its probably better to go with another 4gb stick to get dual channel. But I guess that depends on how much memory the new laptop supports.

the old one was a advent roma, and just pulled out the old ram its ddr2, and the new one is upto 16gd ddr3 well thats a no go will just take the rams and proceser to cex and buy my self two bags of crisps, lol, thanks for the replies

doubt she will ever need more memory, but your right sja360 if needed thats what ill do.

also a update their is space for a second HD but nothing on the MB to plug it into, must have bein a slightly difrent model, on the youtube vid i watched well never mind.

Use it to stash drugs and I believe it comes with an mSATA slot if you ever want to give it a boost? Personally my laptop struggled with 4GB and smooth as butter with 8GB but depends on the usage of course.

yes neo it has a mSATA and for £40-50 may as well get a 120gb one for the os, and a extra 4GB of ram, and keep the m8 just for storage.

did try puting the old drive(the m8) with win 7 on in today and was suprised that it sorted itself out in very little time, but no network lan or wirles (just need to get drivers), think i have found the right ones for a atheros qcwb335, but the dragon got up and wanted her laptop back so put the one it came with back in, and thats the plan keep the HD it came with mostly as it was so if i ever need return it it looks stock.
