Adding MoH to steam?

hey ive gone out an bought MoH for the pc from a store as i could get it cheaper as i had points to spend.....

but im having trouble adding it into steam. ive tried the "activate product on steam" option but it comes back saying the key is invalid :\

has anyone else had this problem? as i would really like to run in in steam as it will keep it up to date and it's where all my other games are installed and i used other keys for them... :\

please helppp i want to get playing

Medal of Honor is not a Steamworks game so you can't activate non-Steam copies in Steam. That's true to most games although recently more and more games have been Steamworks eg. Mafia 2, Civ 5 and Fallout: New Vegas.

There's no way around this (unless you buy a Steam copy). You could make a link in Steam to your MoH but it won't keep it updated.

ive linked the updaters so that when i launch through steam it will auto update to start

You can still add it as a shortcut and probably the steam overlay will work. I used Steam's built in voice party chat instead of Bad Company 2's build in VOIP when running the game from a shortcut in steam.

yea this is true the steam overlay works with it
