I personally think we should use our own avatars. The sig system works very well and very rarely are there any issues and if there are then they are sorted pretty quick with help from forum members here. Same can apply to avatars. Set size and dimensions and possibly only black and white images.
Most people on here know each other and also know what the titles mean but for new members that could be quite confusing. People who are new might not know who the mods are or who the admins are so having the titles changed to Mod, Admin etc, in my opinion might be better. I still have to look elsewhere to find out who's a mod some times. I can never remember so having that under their name will help.

I haven't got any recommendations for specific characters (although I think Junior Soprano and Lucky from Boardwalk Empire are good shouts), but having more duplicate actors/characters is a very bad idea. We don't need Pacino again and we don't need De Niro more...
