Adding more RAM

Hey guys

So I want to add more RAM to my PC. Here is what I have. I just copied it from EVEREST Home Edition.

CPU Type - AMD Athlon 64, 2200 MHz (11 x 200) 3500+
System Memory - 1024 MB (PC3200 DDR SDRAM)
Motherboard Name - MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum (MS-7025)
Video Adapter - NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS (256 MB)

So yeah the question is really about the RAM in my mother board and the slots.

So here is my MOBO

I have 512MB of the RAM in each of the green slots. Now here is the question.

If I buy more RAM, would it be possible to buy 1 stick of 1gb and slap it in the purple slot and leave one purple empty? Or do I buy another 2 512MB and give them a purple slot each?

Also would adding another gig of RAM make any difference, would you recommend it?

I play World of Warcraft and I have terrible FPS on there. I have all the settings on low and sometimes I'm getting 10-15fps. I have all the updated graphics drivers etc. Someone said add more RAM so I dunno.

I think adding another 1GB of RAM will help yes but the thing is with WoW is that it's a CPU instensive game too which is where most performance hits come from.

I'm not so sure about your original question though, as far as I'm aware as long as the two 512KB's you have at the moment are the same brand then adding a 1GB stick *should* be fine. It's just from experience some mobo's like to have a hissy fit when there are more than 2 brands of RAM in the system, mainly due to the fact that they run on different specs i.e. timings, MHz, volts etc.

There are a ton of people on here who are very knowledgable so I'd wait for more replies since I might be wrong about my theory :p

Firstly, you can't just wait half an hour and then bump your thread by demanding for help; this is a forum, not instant messaging! It makes you seem pretty rude, and won't exactly incline people to give you a hand.

That RAM ought to be fine in your machine. Make sure that it's fully into the slot (RAM can require a reasonable push, although obviously not too hard). The plastic clips at the end of each slot should click.

There might be a few reasons yet why it doesn't work, and they may not be anything to do with the RAM; is the RAM definately in the slot correctly? If so, try taking the 2 original sticks of RAM out, and then putting the new stick into a green slot. See if that boots. If it does, there will be another issue rather than the stick itself; probably voltages, but we can come to that later.

Probably that you need to increase the voltages to the RAM in the BIOS. Having 3 sticks will require more Northbridge or RAM volts than having 2. I'm not sure on the intricacies of your board though, or of the specs of your RAM; the last thing you want to do with it is overvolt it. Does it say anywhere on your RAM (both new and old) its recommended voltages?

Does anyone know if I can put any in the purple slots?

Here it was it happening now.

I put the 1gb in the green slot and a 512mb in the green slot, all boots up fine and shows as 1.50gb of ram. Then I put the other in the 512mb slot and it dont see it?
