I have put the MPG4 files in the movies slot on Itunes, but when I try to sync the only option there is for rented movies. Why is this?

The iPhone is very picky about what it will and won't play. I could only get it to recognise files converted by Videora, and even then they had to be converted to specific size and format using power user mode.

It's also pickly about what you name the file so SWAT will work where S.W.A.T won't.

Or at least that's my experience.

What size and format are you using? In the guide it says to use 320*240 but videora only has 480*320. My iphone still wont recognise my converted files it will play them but wont put them give me an option to sync them

Easy 1-click solution for movies optimized to your iPhone. Makes nice small files.

3 easy presets, although it does not use H.264, it uses MPEG4 so files are not as small as they could be, but use less processing power so your iPhone battery should last longer.

Videora

Videora is also good, but the adverts are damn anoying

I normally use H.264 480x320 768kbps Stereo 128kbps

I avoid all this grief by using AnyDVD/CloneDVD Mobile. Works perfectly. I've got all my Michael Palin travel shows on my iPod touch.

Is H.264 the most space saving format? Also, what do you guys reckon is the best settings for the smallest possible file size, i.e. bitrate, fps, audio, resolution, etc? Would 320x240 look rubbish on an iphone/touch?
