I have a small wifi setup at home and have 2 computers in the front office (upstairs) with one of them sharing a printer but I was wondering if there is any way to add in a network multifunction printer.

I already have the printer so a wireless one is out of the equation but not sure if there is anyway to do what I want to achieve?

Wireless router is currently down stairs plugged into BT point (no socket in office sadly).

What are my options? Im not sure how feasible running a cat 5 cable to the router would be to a switch in the office but if thats my only resort then I will have to go down that route. Might be a good excuse to redecorate if nothing else!

Thanks

You can actually get wireless print servers.

With this you'd be able to connect your existing USB printer into the print server and then connect the print server to your network.

Thanks, the printer has USB and ethernet connections on it already. Not sure if this will make it easier cheaper perhaps?

Could have a look at powerline adapters.

Im not sure what wireless print servers are like these days but a few years ago they were very flaky.

As above, powerline is an option with it having an ethernet port.

Also maybe a wireless -> ethernet bridge?

Powerline adapters definitely the way to go

You could even wire up your machines then with either a powerline switch at the office end, or a powerline into a switch (make it gigabit if you transfer files between machines)
