Im thinking of putting my old 2 x Corsair CM2X1024-6400 - (so 2gb total)
into my new build.

Ive got

Intel Core i5 760 2.80GHz (Lynnfield) (Socket LGA1156) -
Gigabyte GA-P55-USB3 Intel P55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard
Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9)

Is it worth it, or will there be a lot of noticeable slow down.

Im not sure of how the mechanics of memory speed work.

Thanks all.
Brian.

Is your old Corsair ddr3? I thought 6400 related to the speed of ddr2 800mhz?

Assuming your old corsair is compatible then you would have to run your overall memory speed at the fastest speed your slowest modules can run at. So your current memory is capable of 1600mhz but would be able to run at say 1333mhz if you had other memory that was only 1333mhz capable if that makes sense.

Your old memory is DDR 2 looking at the number and will not work with DDR 3 systems.

The memory slots are keyed differently, I think they have same amount of pins.
