good or bad? i basically want to get two new sticks of ram to add to the ram i already have, and seeing as it's on a great deal on TWO, i may as well... will i have to sacrifice my OC, though? how do i go about adding in the ram?

Nothing in your sig indicates that you would have any issues (tho we don't know what speed your memory is currently running at).

I would just raise the northbridge/MCH voltage by 0.05-0.1v to boost it for running 4 sticks, and stick them in.

my mem is running at... 400.8 mhz, with 5-5-5-18 timings... basically when i OCed i left it at auto, but upped the volts from auto to 2V (spec, for my ram chips)...

so you're saying i should be able to just bung in the memory and then boot, preserving my overclock? i'll drop everything back to stock if i can't btw...

ta for the help, by the way

Yeah but raise your northbridge/MCH voltage by 0.1v first. You *may* need to raise your memory voltage by 0.05v too, but only if you get instabilities.

You should be able to trim your memory timings to 4-4-4-12 if it's running at 400mhz.

I saw that. I was wondering if your retailer would allow you an exchange based on incompatibility. At at glance, it appears that you simply have 2 different modules types that won't play nice. This is rare but it is why I NEVER tell people to mix memory.

Are you booting by SPD or with timings and voltages set manually?

it's not two different types; it's the exact same type of ram, down to the product code...

i can't get into the bios... i get LEDs which mean a memory problem of some sort, but i've been having them since my board came - i can't run dual channel on it for some reason... and i am using auto timings, everythiong for my ram, except the volts, which i set at 2v - spec for my ram... the ram itself is 2 sets of these...
