Currently have a Demon Business Line linked to a Draytek Vigor 2600 and we are considering installing a second line with another ISP for failover purposes.

So, my current thinking is buying another router and ISP connection and adding these two routers to a Peplink Balance 210.

Am I going about this in the wrong way? Do I need the two routers aswell as the Peplink, or will the Peplink be ok by itself

Anyone have any experience with the Peplink routers?

Thanks

Edit: Or would a Draytek Vigor 2820 be a better solution?

Might be worth looking into a 3G backup, to save on cost of a fixed line and broadband package? Some of the Drayteks have this option, so you just leave the dongle attached to the router and it will swap over if the line drops.

We don't have a 3G signal at the premises unfortunately.

Off the top of my head, no idea. And I don't know what these terms mean. :-)

Would outgoing email still work on the secondary line?

Had a brief look at someone selling that peplink balance 210 and it looks like you just need a couple of adsl modems to add your isp connections into it, rather than more routers as the peplink looks like it performs the function of a router. Not a cheap piece of kit so I would hang on to that and just add the modems, looks like it can combine bandwidth too, not just provide failover handling.

LLU , local loop unbundled, (i think) basically other providers in the exchange using the connection to your premises.

BTW, bt wholesale, providers selling bt broadband under their own brand rather than bt's.

Find out. :)

The SLA on the Demon LLU product is pathetic. I'm not saying BT's SLA (ADSL products probably don't have one) is any better but from experience they make more of an effort to fix faults.
