adding seperate drive

i ve got 2 spare 80gb sata drives, and i was wondering - if i added one of them to this system and set it up so windows used it for the page file, and other programs that use a scratch disc (like adobe progs, corel draw etc).

would that speed the system up at all.

It depends. If your windows hard drive is a lot faster than the 80gb drive then having the pagefile on that drive may actually slow down the system. I tried this once. I had windows installed on my 36gb raptor and i put the pagefile on my 200gb seagate. It slowed the system down a lot. Hopefully though i can do this now and notice an increase in performance as i've just got a 320gb seagate 7200.10 which is meant to be faster than my raptor.

Try it and see really, no harm in trying
