Hiya peeps,

I'm learning Dreamweaver in order to make myself a website to promote myself as an elvis tribute act.

I know how to upload mp3 files so that they play/download when links are clicked on, but I would like a tune to play when the site is entered.

I haven't a clue how to do this.

Anybody?

I think if you are trying to showcase your talent then you would be better off having a "Listen to what I can do" pag, with a clickable link to an mp3 for download or streaming it in quicktime or something. Auto loading of music in the background of a page slows the page load down considerably and annoys most people who goto the site.

Gotta agree with the other posts in this thread, normaly i, like a lot of people listen to music while browsing the internet. When i enter a website that interrupts this, it annoys me, and rather than search round for a button to turn off the noise (which there often isnt), i just leave the site, as it is far easier.

If you do it the other way around, and have an option to play it, it would be far better, although if you're going to do that, you may aswell just have a link to the file.

Have a download link. Or people will be asked to download plugins when they visit the site, or they'll hit the PC, or they'll throw themselves across the room, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc

Auto-playing sound = the most annoying thing in the world apart from animated GIFs :)

Animated gifs only annoy you when you're on the page with them on though, if you have half a dozen pages open, it won't annoy you until you go back to it... with sound it isn't the case, and the easiest solution is to close the offending page.

I'd say the same for flash too, although it can sometimes be effectively used.
