Hi

I was asked if we could add a wireless access point to our existing network at work, so I bought a Netgear WN802T but to be quite honest I've no idea what im doing, i plugged it into a spare network point.

use my laptop to find the ap which id did and it gives me internet access, I then tried to join the work domain and it said welcome to the domain so I thought it would work from there but obviously not, was asked to reboot and tried to logon using my details and got the following error

"there are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request"

My guess is that It has to be either connected directly to the server? or the server needs configering?

Any ideas or tips would be usefull. Server is 2003 SBS if that helps

the wireless does not connect until you login,

you can log in on a wire and it should cache the username/password, so next time it will work on the wireless... it should then not require you to plug into a wire..

I htink some wireless adapters (intel?) do have a service that will connect before you login maybe someone else knows more/#??

One annoying thing is I cannot connect to the AP to setup the security, ive connected it directly to laptop, diabled wifi and enter 192.168.0.233 but it just comes up page not displayed.....

Did you set a static address on the LAN adaptor of your laptop first?

ah, no i didnt, how would i go about doing that?

EDIT

Thanks for the info, got it static and now have the security setup, many thanks to both of yoou for your help :)
