Anyone got a foolproof method for adjusting a front derailleur? I think mine took a bit of a knock at the weekend and now the chain is scraping when I am in certain gears.

Tried setting it to the lowest gear and adjusting the L screw then into highest gear and doing the same for the H screw but there are still certain gears where the chain rubs agains the derailleur cage. Meh :(

Thanks in advance.

sounds like its been knocked off line. look from above does it still line up with the chainrings?
are the chain rings still true? if the derailleur rubbing and has taken a knock has it bent the chainrings, how big a knock?
also look from the side and when the chain is on the largest chainring is the curvature of the changer inline with the curvature of the chainring it self? is any of this making sense? it does to me :D

All makes sense. Will have another look at it tonight. Wasn't a massive knock, just got a bit of a bash going over a log. Only really rubs when it is on the middle of the three front rings and on the extreme rear and front gears.
