Adjusting In-Game Brightness w/ NVIDIA CP?

Howdy.

Just installed my GTX 460 SOC and have been running a few games to check performance. I've noticed however that games are too dark.

Using NVIDIA control panel, I've no problem adjusting brightness, contrast etc on the desktop, but I can't seem to make any changes that make a difference in actual games.

FYI, on W7 64, using 260.99 drivers, and monitor's own brightness control is already set to maximum. Any help? As is, it's too dark in many games. For example, in L4D's own brightness setting, the line that is supposed to be "Clearly Visible" is only literally barely visible, and I can't see the other lines of text at all.

try upping your gamma in nvidia settings,or failing that, adjust brightness with your monitor settings,

As already stated in my OP, any changes I make via Control Panel affect the desktop only. I've also already said that the monitor's own brightness control is already at maximum value.

The silence is deafening :(

Well, it does strike me as being a limitation of the NVIDIA CP. Any changes that I make to desktop aren't "sticking" either, and I have to click "Other applications control color settings" and then re-select "Use NVIDIA settings" to re-enable them. Bit of a pain really.

May all be moot though, as I think the darkness issue is just one symptom of my beloved monitor dying, and I'm going to have to replace it anyway. Gutted.
