Using Windows 7 RC, I've set up and admin account and a limited user account on my kids pc. The limited account obviously stops her installing stuff without the admin password which I don't want her to know. In addition I've set up time restrictions so she can't login before 9am or on after 8pm.

Now, she loves playing crossfire but every time it starts it launches patcher_cf.exe and requests the admin password. If you refuse then cross fire won't load. I've tried giving her user account full permissions to the entire folder that the game is in but it still asks for the password.

Is there any way around this? I don't want to have to keep typing it in for her everytime she wants to play. She's on and off it like a yoyo!

Does the game have an executable that can be run seperately that won't try to patch the game? it sounds like you may be running a loader executable that does both

Alternatively you could look at using LSRUNASE to launch the app with admin credentials without giving the credentials away, it can be used to encrypt the details

If the UAC control kicks in then giving full access rights to the folder won't make a difference

Avrc,

Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 RC Support Forum. It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to check the threads there for additional support.
