Adobe profits are falling since Creative Cloud. What do you think they will do next?

It would be interesting to see how halving the cost of Lightroom impacted their figures as well (v4 was it?)? I'd expect a high initial uptake but then a drop in revenue as people are then on the much cheaper upgrade path.

On the flipside many more people probably bought it. Amateur photography and associated tooling is much more far reaching now that it was a few years ago.

If a pro doesn't budget software expense that is critical to their business then that is their fault, nobody else's.

I must admit that is precisely what I thought. If you are a pro and can't afford £8.57 a month for the software that supports your business you surely have bigger problems to deal with? How are you going to afford petrol to get around if you can't afford a LR subscription to start with?

If you aren't a pro and can't afford it well it's time to rethink priorities against expensive hobbies :)

I would guess keen amateur photographers probably out number Pro's in an order of magnitude.
Also halving the price of lightroom probably kept allot of people choosing to use capture one/aperture.

They're not controlling anyone, just like any company they offer a product. No-one is forced to buy it. Your comment on pirating says it all tbh.

The subscription model has been around for years, if it doesn't meet your needs then that's fine. At least Adobe aren't basing the monthly fee you on your annual turnover like a lot of project management SaaS providers do!

Budgeting doesn't matter, it's not an issue of capital, it's cash flow. Such as a card being suspended at the monthly payment interval.
