A child's alleged crime leaves parents, a detective, and a therapist searching for answers, March 13th.

Been waiting for this as it was filmed last year not far from where I work.

The first two episodes were strong, but the last two fell a bit flat. The series is shot in a continuous one-take style, with each episode capturing a single moment in real time.

This style works really well when there’s a dynamic mix of characters and interaction to drive the story. Unfortunately, it hinders the final two episodes, they feel unnecessarily slow and stretched due to the lack of scene breaks or shifts in perspective.

I'd agree, episode 1 and 2 were by far the strongest. Still over all impressive stuff, some great acting here.

Id have liked to see
an episode in court or more about the other 2 boys involvement as it felt like there was more to tell

Episode 3 , some of the best TV acting I've seen in years . Erin Doherty ( young princess Anne in the crown) was outstanding. Young Owen Cooper has a great future ahead of him and as ever superb performance from Stephen Graham and Asley Walters.

Ashley has definitely grown up since TopBoy and must be destined for a part in a huge blockbuster.

Just finished it. Tough to watch in places but the acting was top drawer. There were a few places in episodes 2 and 4 where I felt it lost its way a bit but taken as a whole it was great. The last few mins with Stephen Graham had me if bloody bits.

Agree with all the comments here, some top performances but it did fall away on episodes 3 and 4.

I’m still trying to workout how they managed to pan the camera onto the van in EP4 before the occupants just set off driving.

The van must’ve been on a rig because Grahams character wasn’t turning the steering wheel in sync with the environment.. but how they pieced being outside the house going into the rig is beyond me

There is also a moment in episode 2 where the camera goes through a window. I watched that bit multiple times, and not sure how it can be done without some sort of CGI.

came into this thread primarily to say this. i think the biggest lie of the show is that it was all 1 constant shot each episode, as there is no way they could get through a glass window without cutting, or the window not being there, when it def is.

also the detective gets out of the class room and outside way too quickly too.

however hte show is the absolute dogs balls. it's amazing. every second of it. i love one shot movies/shows, and this really takes advantage of this style of filming. i watched all 4 episodes this weekend and now want to rewatch already

binged it all yesterday afternoon and quit enjoyed it. I'm hoping the two policemen get a spinoff series at some point, they were great :) Anyway...

I felt like it needed a 5th episode dealing with the court case. There were a lot of extenuating circumstances involved re: online bullying which weren't really touched upon and it was a shame they went down the tried and tested "chav type with anger issues" path but an episode dealing with the trial might have given the opportunity to go a bit deeper into that, so it was disappointing when he just said he would change his plea, a year ago we were shown CCTV of him killing her so he didn't have a leg to stand on anyway and the effects of the excellent 3rd episode didnt really go anywhere, i wanted to hear of her report and how it might of affected sentencing.

Top acting all round, i hope the younger cast members go on to bigger and better things.

I realised by the end of the second episode we are unlikely to get a court episode. It wouldn't work for this format because 1 hour I not very long in court. You'd have to have the epaidoe start mid way through a court session, and then it's only likely be able to cover a small moment. Also as you say, with the cctv it's a simple result, so we didn't really need the court case to find anything more out. The information we got from epaidoe 3 kind of gave us the answer as to how her report would go and affect things.

I do agree it needed 1 more episode though, but for something the cop said in episode the story becomes Jamie's story, and the victim gets forgotten. This show (likely purposefully) completely forgot the victim. I think a 5th episode perhaps either the night it all happened, or like a Christmas episode following her family would have been good.
