Any good?

I never had any problems with them, but then I never had to make a claim with them. I've heard loads of stories about bad customer service but never experienced it myself and I was with them for three years.

usually pretty good pricing, not always best but generally at the cheaper end of the spectrum, english people on the phones, usually get through quickly, cant complain

never had to claim with them yet though

I've never found them particularly good on price for Manchester to be honest. They seem to have a bit of a ***** reputation but I don't know if that is justified.

Likewise. Had nothing but excellent service from them, prompt with everything, understood exactly what I wanted (and had) and were always exceptionally friendly.

Been with them for 3 years too, on about 10 different cars :D

Couldn't get cheaper, elsewhere, either. Or insured, in some instances.....Hah!

They have never been competative enough for me. Heritage do cover for classic and modified cars and have never been beaten in my searchings yet.

A lot of people define customer service as how quickly they get through to a human. But to save a bit of money and considering I don't really get too flustered waiting in a call queue... is that the only thing wrong with them?

The policy I've been quoted is underwritten by Equity Red Star which seem to be owned by Lloyds and they say they're the 5th biggest car insurance underwriter in the UK.

I havent been insured with them, but, they tried to charge me anyway.

I got an online quote from them on an ITR, £1000, bargain i thought, phoned up with the referance number and gave them my payment details. Upon completion they went over the price again, which has rocketed from £1000 up to £3500 because they had a computer fault which made it appear online as though passing my test in Jan08 meant i had 10years+ experiance... So i obviously said i wasnt happy with the mistake and wouldnt be taking the policy, at which point they said it had already been processed and they would have to charge me a £25 admin/cancellation fee. Got it waived as it was their fault, but it took about 20mins on hold waiting for a supervisor to ok it.

When I was with them everything was still paper based. They needed me to send them hard copies of proof of ownership as well as proof of NCB, rather than just asking the previous insurers like everyone else does, they cancelled my insurance twice telling me I'd withheld payment and then blamed it on me when I'd rung them to update my details 2 weeks previous, their staff were snotty with me when I was dealing with them...

Just didn't like anything about them. I decided if they were that much hassle when trying to gain my custom what would they be like when I needed them?

Been with them now for a couple of years with no real trouble to speak of. Only hi-cup was when I wanted to transfer my policy over to my new car. Did the usual, reg details etc etc explaining that I didnt want the cover to start immediately but on X date. Got the new documents through and they had the incorrect car details and had started the policy from the moment I had got off the phone to them so I had been driving around uninsured for 4 days on my old car. Rang them up and it was sorted in 15 mins, appologised for cocking the start date up, for the wrong engine size and because they didnt check with me if it was a 2.0 I had and not a 1.6 wouldnt charge me for the increase in my premiums.

I've never had to claim, but this year their quote was 40% less than my renewal and £50 cheaper than the best quote I could find. Half the compulsory excess too.

NU is the underwriter of last resort, they will however cover anything but they demand a hefty premium for the option. I've had quotes from AF before and they are usually OK but i've not used them yet though those I know who have didn't seem to have any more problems than any other insurance co.

Been with them 10+ years, very pleased with them, always beat ANY quote I can find come renewal and never ask me to prove it.
Like others have said though, I've never put them to the real test as I've never had to claim.

Brentacre and Chris Knott ;)

Just took out a policy with Chris Knott and was a good 50 quid cheaper than Adrian Flux/HIC and 30 quid cheaper than brentacre... give them both a bell though :)

Got my best quote on the SX from Flux, however after speaking to a friend and also a lot of the guys from the SX forum they advised me to stay clear as they tend to drag their heels a bit if you do indeed have to make a claim.

Luckily Sky only quoted me £35 more so went with them.
