Adrian Flux

My main car policy is with adrian flux at the moment and I have mixed feelings about them to be honest..

Bad:
- every time i've had to ring them it's been ~10 minutes on hold before i get to speak to someone.. which isn't really that bad except for:
- their hold music sucks and is a poor quality recording
- £25 admin fee to change the car on my insurance halfway through the year
- they were really happy to take £75 off me on the phone for the car change, but didn't tell me that i'd have to send them a new mileage statement and a copy of my driving licence, letter requesting them arrived while i was on holiday and technically meant that i may not have been insured for four days without realising it

Good:
- reasonable price quote
- when they pick the phone up it's always been a british person (or at least someone with a good grasp of speaking and understanding english)
- resolved the documentation issue above within ten minutes on the phone

Been with them for about 2 years almost, yes there are quite cheap, first year was £800, second year is now £600. Never had to claim but so far seems good, and i agree with karoshi on the phone thing, takes along time before getting someone to speak to.

Adrian Flux - cheap for import jap cars IIRC? Sky Insurance are an alternative but I found out the hard way, don't go with cheap insurance firms/brokers. Sky Insurance were appalling and messed up my DD payments. Took me ages to reclaim the charges they incurred me. Had problems with other "cheap" companies before too, so whilst I couldn't advise on Adrian Flux I can advise to go with the more reputable companies and have peace of mind.

Never had a competitive quote from them, nor have they been able to beat competitors prices. When I tried to get a quote they told me they couldnt as I hadnt owned it for a year.

Last year they beat any quote i had from any other insurer by around £700, they sent me a silly renewal quote so i phoned them up and it now costs me less to insure my Capri 2.8i than it does to tax it, which i was well pleased with.

Considering 3 years ago i paid £2046 TPFT to insure the car i'm quite liking being insured for £130 Fully comp :D

Was with them for ages, only changed as I wanted to move somewhere with 0% payments. Never had a problem with them throughout including 2 claims.

I have been with AF for a couple of years and have had no probs with them whatsoever. Would heartily recommend them to anyone and everyone. They beat all quotes hands down and once I got the best quote out of them I then pulled the 'I'm part of x car owners club' and claimed another 15% off :D

Never had to claim so cant comment on that aspect of it and I always pay the fees in full as the major thing I dislike about them is the extortionate interest on the monthly payments otherwise (£150 in interest on £350 insurance fees takes the mick tbh).

For classic, modified or high performance cars, ie more specialist cover, they know their stuff and can offer extremely good deals. My modified, Lotus Elan Turbo is costing me a lot less than my Golf (which isn't insured with them).
