Adrian Sutil to appear in court at Munich

More harsh words for Hamilton, from Sutil's father this time:

(Google translation, hence the dodgy Engrish)

To the disappointment that the verdict is out so hard, the personal disappointment comes about Lewis Hamilton, with whom he is actually friends ...

Was a friend.

Lewis Hamilton, who sat next to Adrian claimed to have seen nothing.

This is really embarrassing. Lewis Hamilton has moved to Monaco and was not able to Adrian's new phone number to communicate. He has often been invoked, for example, if he had personal problems. His father sent an email to my son that he hopes all goes well during the process. And Lewis Hamilton, the cause of the dispute was not even reported. Since my son has picked the wrong friend.

Formula 1 is not an easy terrain.

No, it's because not only about personal power. What Lewis Hamilton is concerned, we are very disappointed. Have been friends for years. And needed in a situation where the support Adrian, he can tell about his team that he has another appointment. He could have called and say that he has no desire to come. This could have been accepted. But he has not even reported in person. For a great world champion that's a pretty weak performance. I would be ashamed.

If I had a mate who decided to glass someone in a bar in front of me I'd not help them either, I'm a no body.

If I was busy trying to work my way through a F1 career with all the press attention that brings I don't blame Lewis at all for washing his hands of it. Sutil is stupid and by the looks so is his farther to think he was ever going to get involved imo.

Oh, it's not over:

Adrian Sutil will appeal the court verdict after receiving a suspended sentence for assaulting Lotus F1 team co-owner Eric Lux last year.

"We are convinced that the judgement handed down is not appropriate. There are many things that went against us," Sutil's manager Manfred Zimmerman was quoted as saying by the SiD news agency.

The interesting bit:

The SiD report says that state prosecutors have also appealed the verdict as they believe the punishment was too lenient

Friends should at least be there for their friends.

If I did not want to lie under oath OR I felt that giving evidence would make the case worse for my friend I would be honest and tell that to my friend. I would tell him that I'm not going.

What I wouldn't do is change my phone number and refuse to take his calls. That is bad form.

I'd not want to be friends with anyone who decided it was a good idea to glass someone in a bar, That is bad form!

See nothing wrong with walking away from said friend. Simple as that.

There is really no proof that Lewis changed his phone number over this incident, it sounds like mild paranoia from Sutil's part to even suggest so.

Considering his status and fame, well, I wouldn't be surprised if people changed their numbers constantly.

As for telling him he won't go, surely it would be legally dodgy and get both Sutil, his defence and Lewis in trouble.

Not going for any reason but saying its because you have a corporate event is one thing, if you make a call or leave an e-mail saying, my evidence won't help you and it will look bad, I dunno, somehow it comes across as worse.

As for being there for a friend, sure, but you don't have to stay friends with people who do things you don't agree with. One of my mates kills someone in self defence I'm all over helping him, he kills someone out of revenge or something stupid, or randomly glasses someone, he becomes someone I do not want to be friends with.

There was a story out there that while Lewis was there on the night he wasn't actually there during the incident, and when he heard about it he went back and asked to see the security footage. Suggests to me that possibly he simply saw something he didn't like, at all, and washed his hands with Sutil. Maybe he saw it was going to be a crapstorm and just didn't want his name involved and he is being a **** about it, who knows.

Simple fact is his evidence won't do anything, Sutil did in fact smash a glass into someones neck, I'm sure they called up plenty of people to say what a lovely smashing(maybe not :p ) chap he is, why involve your mate in it or have him possibly lie on the stand to help get you off something you simply shouldn't have done?

The kind of irksome thing about the statements from Sutil and his father well, they come across as putting the blame on the biggest name they could, make the story about Lewis and make it appear like he'd have been found not guilty if Lewis bothered to show up.

Sutil didn't seem to take blame, it was all excuses, same for his father, they are trying to make the story as little about Sutil as possible.

I read that he was sitting down while lux was standing at the table shouting or saying some things which annoyed Sutil.

He had a wine/champagne glass in his right hand, and when Lux came in closer he stood up and pushed him away with the glass still in his hand.. Which then broke on his neck.

It sounds like a realistic scenario but I wasnt there :o
