Hi guys, normally I dont use any apps on my phone but today I decide to download a workout trainer for a bike. 5 minutes in using it I have ads with annoying video and sound, is it normal? Did it really when to **** with them ads? How normal people can use it? When did we pass that point that it became a norm. Please dont give me that they support developers and so on. Prostitution support a person doing it and its still illegal. Your thoughts on it?

Was the app free or paid? If free tough the devs need to make some money. If paid, refund, find a new app.
Prostitution isn't illegal and neither are ads in apps. Deal with it.
My question has more to to with the fact that ads became so bad and yet no one cares. Ads company make money of it so they want to make them as obtrusive as possible. Developers get paid I get that but I still remember first aps with ads on android it was a bit of text and that is it, now is mayhem.

My point was that ads become very obtrusive and with sound no way to skip it's nothing like it was 5 years ago... I get that developers should get paid but it was profitable to make aps 5 years ago and now its not ales you put shi.ty ads in them?
5 years ago you had competition from one or two other apps, you needed less income per app because your app could get away with being more basic and less worried about similar apps taking your user base.
Now consumers demand app quality as if the app was developed by Google themselves or you'll get 1 star reviewed into obscurity and you have to compete with 15 other apps doing the same thing.
They can't survive from the pittance a small unobtrusive text ad would get them these days.

So find another app, there'll be plenty of choice out there.
That's not true games, movies are still sold at the same price yet cost of producing them sky rocked. You said that the market become more competitive and that's the reason for ads of that sort to "help" developers paid bills but if that business was not profitable no one would make apps. I just dont understand why do we allow companies like that to mess everything up.
We're talking about apps, often made by very small businesses or individuals, no idea why you're now waffling about Hollywood movies.
You say it yourself, if it wasn't profitable no one would make apps. They rely on the ads to make it profitable because everyone is too much of a cheapskate to pay 79p for an app, they want everything for nothing. Without it you'd end up with an app store like you see on Microsoft phones with virtually nothing on it.
In February 2012 there were 450,000 apps on Google Play. In March 2017 there are 2,800,000. That's a lot more competition for your business as an app developer.
Ultimately if you don't like it then vote with your wallet and don't use those apps.
I used to play Word Feud a lot with the free version. Didn't mind the ads. But then they released an update which have you full screen video add with sound - even when your phone was on silent. Did my nut. Haven't played since. Devs need to be aware of their audience, ads like that will only drive people away.

So don't use that app and use one of their competitors, they'll soon get the message when no one is using it.

If the cant afford to develop aps without bad practices I have no sympathy for them.
Making money is not bad practice for a business. If you don't like it, just go somewhere else. Cleary many people don't mind putting up with the ads or they wouldn't be there
Perhaps try Windows Phone then, sounds like you'd enjoy an app store with only 12 apps on it
They only do it because people want everything free but nothing comes free. If people won't pay the 79p for an app because they'd rather put it towards a can of Coke how else do you expect them to get compensated for their time?
You can't build a sustainable app system off the back of a handful of people who do stuff in their spare time and don't care about getting paid for it.
You say 'if they can't afford to develop apps' as if it's their duty to develop apps for you and it's their problem if they can't get paid for it, talk about entitlement.
Going with his example, you can buy Word Feud for £1.99 or get a free version with ads, it's a simple choice on how you pay for the hours/days/weeks of work the developer has put in. Is there not a paid version of the app you downloaded? What is the app?
